Everything I Say is a Lie

Green is the color
Of the other
Side of fence-split groves.
Yellow is the smell of
Every petal
That there on which grows.

(O muse)
I don't know what I'm saying
All these words are meaningless
And every song I sing
Is just a string of noises.

Dreams in 3D
They come to me
I love them so.
I think of them
But only when
I forget how they go.

(someone)
Asked me what my words meant
I said "Your guess is as good as mine."
They're merely carnage from disasters
That have struck my mind.

Birdbrainl

There are so many people
That look like other people
Sometimes I see a person
I think he's another person
There are so many names
I can't remember them all
So I trip and I fall
I might as well not at all

There are so many faces
That look like other faces
And the faces have names
But the names have been replaced
And there are so many ways
You can get to a place
But a straight line in space
Will go forever if you don't
Mind me asking why
You got to steal my,
My name, it's my name
I cannot compromise
We can't split it or share it
it belongs to me
As it was given by my folks
When I could barely see.

Well I imagine that there's someone
Who looks just like me
And maybe one day we'll meet
And we can pretend to be
Each other for a day
And he would sing all my songs
Sing them all day long
But he would sing them all wrong!

The South Pole

Hi! My name is Cellophane and I would like you
To meet my best friend his name is Gasoline we
Met inside a limousine on the road to

Antarctica!
We flew a plane to
Antarctica!
We drove a bus to
Antarctica!
Not Africa but

(The South Pole)

Hi! My name is Mary Sue
I think that you know what to do
My house is filled with kangaroos
Cherry Cupcake:
Kiss me and I'll cut your tongue out,
Lick me and I'll make you shout but,
My advice is never doubt it,
Heaven help me.

Hi! My name is Integral I think you've met me
Once inside a snail shell but then you left me
Stranded all alone until I rand off to

Antarctica!
We submarined to
Antarctica!
We airshipped down to
Antarctica!
La La La La

Rocks in space cause aftertastes,
and I'm not hungry anymore,
I want out. I want out.

I got cancer from the sun,
And now I hide from everyone,
I ran away, ran away, ran away.

I ran away, ran away, ran away, ran away,
ran away, ran away, ran away, ran away,
ran away, ran away, ran away, ran away,
ran away, ran away, ran away, ran away,
ran away, ran away, ran away,
I ran off to

Antarctica!
I captained boats to
Antarctica!
I hitched a ride to
Antarctica!
I visited you in a dream in
Antarctica!

Monsters in this House

My shoes are in a box in the basement
I don't know how they got there but I bought some replacements
They're covered in teeth marks, strange hairs and foul-smelling
substances of dubious origin, telling
A story I know from a childhood sleeping
In these dark rooms, hidden, not that you believed me,
But now I have proof! It's undeniable truth!
Your reassuring words won't soothe me now that I found
Monsters in the house.

Monsters in the closets.

Monsters in the hallways.

Monsters in this house.

Looking back on myself twelve years ago today
A frightened young me hoped that you'd make them go away
But you said "Hush, don't worry- they're really not there."
And I said I felt better, BUT I WAS STILL SCARED.
And you LIED to me! (lied to me!)
Looked me in the EYE told me
I was safe, your explanation was an OVERACTIVE IMAGINATION
Well make no mistake, they're as real as you're fake,
And I bet you'd be sorry if I was eaten by the
Monsters in this house.

Monsters in the attic.

Monsters in the basement.

Monsters in this house.

Sharp teeth.
Red eyes.
Sharp claws.
Hearts made of FLIES.

Bat wings, Long faces
Howling In dark places
Over your shoulder
The room's feeling colder
And under your sheets
they can feel your heart beats
as they crawl they surround you
They'll burn you, They'll drown you!
They eat little children Who don't do as they're told
The ones who spill juice The ones that can't be controlled!
They'll rip out your organs and they'll chomp on your neck
and when you beg them for mercy, THEY'LL DRAG YOU TO HECK

Alligators in the Sewer

Do you think there are alligators in the New York Sewers.
Flushed down the toilets when they get big enough that rich tourists realize they can't control them.
Eating rats and sewage, turning white from lack of Vitamin D.
Their eyes are big and full of cateracts.
Maintenance spots them, slithering through brackish water,
And they are all albinos.

Do you believe in alligators in the sewer.

Lyrics to Alligators in the Sewer by
Travis Demello.

Paper Plane

I built myself a paper plane
It crashed into the water
I built myself a paper friend
I led her to the slaughter

I built myself a paper house
It blew away one summer night
When I built myself a paper storm
I hope it landed safe, alright.

I built myself a paper life
It's better than not having one
And as for all my paper songs,
I burned each one.

The Internet Generation

To the flowers;
To the green grass, too:
I suck the sour ones,
And the sweet ones, too.
It was a story
That wasn't finished yet
An allegory
For all my regrets

I used to know all the answers
But I'm smarter now I know I'm dumb
Thoughts the bruises I staid would surely fade
There was nothing couldn't be undone

I made my bed then;
I ate my supper, too.
I told so many lies,
That I forgot the truth
And still it haunts me;
A tiny ghost, I know.
A tiny fear that
Will never let me go

The Internet Generation
Was the name of my first band
But the songs we made were badly played
And nothing ever went as planned

If I could go back and fix it
Knowing now what I knew then
Well, I'd give anything I could
To be sixteen again.

McGregor's Garden

Peter Rabbit lived beneath a tree
He refused to gather blackberries
Oh no
Oh no

Peter Rabbit was mischeiveious
A heretic just like the rest of us
Oh no

And in the garden there are carrots galore
Enough to never hunger anymore
Radishes and Parsley, all delicious things
We live like peasants but we'll feast like kings
Oh no

Peter Rabbit, he was getting ill
Too many good things almost surely will
Disagree

He was alone inside a paradise
He took a risk and nearly payed the price
Nothing's free

He found McGregor on his hands and knees
The growing vegetables swayed in the breeze
Oh no

And as he desperately tried to hide
He felt a terrible regret inside
Himself

And he remembered the words of warning
his mother gave to him that morning

DON'T GO IN MCGREGORS GARDEN
DON'T GO IN MCGREGORS GARDEN
DON'T GO IN MCGREGORS GARDEN
DON'T GO IN MCGREGORS GARDEN

(stop theif!)

We lost our shoes among the cabbages
Chasing the very greatest prize there is
Oh no

Peter Rabbit was not very wise
Listen to mother and you'll stay alive
Rest assured

The rules run contrary to our condition
Written, knowing of our disposition.
We reach for fire and we feel the burn
But it's the only way we'll ever learn

DON'T GO IN MCGREGORS GARDEN
DON'T GO IN MCGREGORS GARDEN
DON'T GO IN MCGREGORS GARDEN
DON'T GO IN MCGREGORS GARDEN

Technophobe

Technophobe
Won't dance if there's a light that strobes
He's scared to death of telescopes
What a joke
That technophobe.

Paper and Plastic

I used to have a minotaur I kept him in a maze
But I forgot to keep on feeding him and then he ran aways
He caused a ruckus in the city, they called animal control
And then my parents sold him to a farm, or that's what I am told

I used to have a golden calf I raised him in my home
and I took him with us went we went vacationing in rome
Now he stands in colliseums drawing crowds and licking heads
And they use his fur to make the softest golden threads

Your gods are paper and plastic
My gods are ivory
Your gods are quaint and monastic
My gods hold no decree
Your gods are paper and plastic
My gods are ebony.
Your gods are sown elastic
My gods will set me free

I used to date a siren with the most exquisite eyes
And passion ran like fire when I looked into her eyes
Till she sang to me a lullaby one warm september night
And the last thing I recall is being unable to fight

I have a couple of medusas, they are living in a cage.
And every day I change their litterbox while wearing mirrow shades
I have a bonzai tree of knowledge in my rock garden of eden
Growing for ten million years
In my yard.

Your gods are paper and plastic
My gods are figurines
Your gods are quaint and monastic
My gods hold no decree
Your gods are paper and plastic
My gods are mahogany.
Your gods are so inelastic
My gods will set me free

Should've Payed More Attention

I don't know the work done in
lifting the lower end of a
10-foot pole
that weighs 25 pounds
and hangs from the ceiling
So that it's level with the upper end.

Guess I should have payed more attention
In calculus.

Zigguratus!

Lookit all the squishy fishes at the bottom of the bowl.
Lookit all the tiny slimies out there turning into coal.
Lookit all the big and littles standing on each other's heads.
Lookit all the sunny bunnies making rainbows in their beds.
Lookit all the scary faries they are dying in a hole.
Let me eat the tiny slimies before they all start getting cold.

WE WILL EAT ALL THE FISHES.

Thoughts Alone

The distances between
Yourself and me
It is the line between
Waking life and dreams

I think that you will find
That monsters in your mind
Are something you can feel
Are something very real

There's so many monsters in my head.
I still believe in monsters in my head.
I'm still afraid of monsters in my head.

Hey, Carmen

Hey Carmen
They're looking for you elsewhere
A teenage girl with braces on the rail
You're staring at the water
And muttering a prayer
behind you there are horns and rising sails
Why are you so down?

Where's Susie?
She's late and she's the one who
knows how to play this wretched violin
I wish that I was like her
But I'm not that creative
And she's so pretty, How'd she get so thin?
She's beautiful as sin

The lights and the fumes
And the shadows in rooms
Are a face in the dark
On this quiet little ark
The quartet is playing
And the girls are misbehaving
And you're watching the moonlight
dance upon the waves Tonight

Hey Allie
We're all having a party
I wondered if you're coming to the deck
We're laying in the dancehall,
We're playing spin the bottle,
We're listening to Sonic Youth and Beck
Well what do you say?

It's warm out
A lovely night for sinking
And thinking of the land so far away
And I can tell you're homesick
Or maybe you're just seasick
either way, tomorrows another day
So come on down and play
